Forestry
Forestry at Christianssæde
Forestry at Christianssæde has existed for more than 300 years, and today it is run with a focus on creating sustainable, quality timber while respecting the flora and fauna of the forest. The forest of approx. 1,000 hectares provides oak, beech, ash, maple, larch, thuja, cypress, Douglas fir and seed material from our certified oak stands.

Christianssædeskoven
Christianssædeskov has a unique history, as it was transformed into a major forestry and research project during the Danish Enlightenment by the castle’s owner, Prime Minister C.D.F. Count Reventlow (1748-1827). At the beginning of the 19th century, the Danish forests were in a poor condition due to excessive exploitation, and with efficiency and long-term solutions in mind, C.D.F. initiated the Peace Forest Ordinance in 1805, which stabilizes and secures the forest’s growth and future yield through fencing and protection.
